Juan Manuel Marquez formally decides to fight American World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Timothy Bradley in September 14, at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. Marquez (55-6-1 win-loss-draw card with 40 knockouts) has confirmed that he chooses Bradley (29-0, 12 KO) over Pacquiao for his next bout. While such a matchup would effectively take two of the most viable opponents out the running for the November or December date reserved for Pacquiao’s ring return, Marquez-Bradley would promise to be a quality, marketable matchup with major implications for both men.

Marquez-Bradley showdown is that fact that Marquez—only two fights ago—lost a debatable decision to Pacquiao where, despite being out-landed, Marquez consistently connected with crisp counters and dictated the majority of the fight’s pace. Thus, in Marquez and Bradley, fans are presented with two men who have potentially been robbed or caused a robbery against Pacquiao, a fact which makes their potential meeting that much more tantalizing.

Bradley currently holds the WBO welterweight title, while Marquez, in his last outing, won a lopsided decision over Serhiy Fedchenko to inherit the interim WBO light welterweight title. While alphabet soup belts mean little to Bradley, and even less to Marquez, the fact that they both currently hold world titles has to mean something.

Tickets for Marquez vs Bradley fight has gone on sale and available at the premiere ticketing outlets. We are encouraging to all boxing enthusiasts to order Marquez vs Bradley Fight Tickets to exclusively secure seats for your loved ones and colleagues.

WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) will face WBA junior middleweight Austin Trout (26-0, 14 KO’s) to try and beat Trout in their fight on April 20th at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. I think we can already see what Trout’s going to do to give Canelo problems on April 20th. He’s going to use movement, jab him, not letting Canelo set his feet to wind up with his power shots.

Canelo Alvarez professional record is currently 41 wins (30 KO) 0 losses 1 draw. Alvarez is a very limited fighter also, his footwork is non-existent (plodding & flat footed) his punch arsenal is very weak, Alvarez uses straight lefts and rights, occasional uppercuts and hooks, very poor combination puncher, no finishing instinct, gets hit often, lack of power for a light-middleweight.

Austin Trout looked very much at home in the ring, wasn’t phased by Cotto and his status in the boxing world and in simple terms did a job on him. Trout has accomplished footwork, good combination puncher and altogether calm, he makes up for his lack of power with the obvious fight skills he possesses.

Now for the Canelo Alvarez vs Austin Trout Tickets, 12 thousand tickets have been sold for the fight that will take place for the 72,000 seat stadium at the Alamodome. tickets are still in extremely high demand. As a result, two bleacher packages will be added to the existing set-up allowing for additional seating for over 3,000 people. Newly created seating will be available for purchase at the Alamodome box office.

Brace yourselves boxing fanatics for the highly anticipated fight between undefeated and current WBA welterweight world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr and top-rated welterweight contender Robert Guerrero is on. The Mayweather vs Guerrero scheduled fight on Saturday, May 4 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. And also this is the first time the Mayweather will not be showing on HBO PPV, this time it will be on Showtime. Floyd Mayweather shocked the boxing world today by announcing an exclusive multi-fight deal with Showtime and parent company CBS.

Guerrero, who holds an impressive 31-1-1 record with 18 knockouts, will have nothing to lose but everything to gain against Mayweather. The California-native recently scored an emphatic unanimous decision win over Andre Berto last month in California wherein he knocked down Berto in the first and second round.

Mayweather, on the other hand, was pushed to the limits by Miguel Cotto last May before escaping with a unanimous decision win over the Puerto Rican challenger. After the win, Mayweather, who is undefeated in 43 bouts with 26 KOs, spent two months in jail for domestic violence charges.

This is going to be an exciting, thrilling and explosive rematch bout. What are you waiting for die-hard boxing fanatics? Buy Mayweather vs Guerrero Tickets as early as of now and catch the blow by blow coverage of the fight live via Showtime Boxing.

World super bantamweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire will likely face fellow titleholder Guillermo Rigondeaux of Cuba in his first fight of 2013.

Boxing Scene reported that an April 13 fight between Donaire and Rigondeaux is nearly a done deal, with Rigondeaux’s manager Gary Hyde confirming that he has received an official contract for the bout.

“(We are) happy with the contract in principle and hope to have it signed this week,” a member of Team Rigondeaux told Boxing Scene.

In a separate Boxing Scene report, Hyde called on Top Rank to keep its word and put the Rigondeaux-Donaire fight together.

“It is well known that Top Rank committed a Donaire bout to HBO in Apri. It is well known that Mr. Rigondeaux has a multi-bout agreement with Top Rank which calls for a Donaire bout,” Hyde said in a statement.

“Top Rank cannot violate its word to Rigondeaux and we do not anticipate it would violate its word to HBO,” he added.

The reports come as negotiations for a fight between Donaire and another champion, Mexico’s Abner Mares, fell apart over promotional issues.

A bout between Mares and Donaire proved to be difficult to put together, given that they are promoted by rival companies: the Mexican is signed with Golden Boy while “The Filipino Flash” is with Top Rank.

A clash against Rigondeaux, who is also promoted by Top Rank, was easier to make. The undefeated Cuban has been calling for a fight with Donaire since last year.

Although Rigondeaux has only fought 11 professional fights, he will likely be a tough challenge for Donaire given his sterling amateur career, which includes two Olympic gold medals. Donaire vs Rigondeaux Tickets are available to be purchased.

Superstar Manny Pacquiao, known as the fighting pride of the Philippines, weighed-in 147 lbs (66.68 kgs) while old nemesis Mexican Super Lightweight World Champion Juan Manuel Marquez tipped the scale at 143 lbs (64.86 kgs) ahead of their much awaited 12-round clash for the “WBO Champion of the Decade” belt tomorrow at the MGM Grand Arena here in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In attendance during the weigh-in was former heavyweight world champion “Iron” Mike Tyson who wished good luck to Pacquiao and Marquez, as well as popular artist Curtis James Jackson “50 Cent,” known for his 8-time platinum album “Get Rich or Die Tryin’.”

Other boxing celebrities like Hall-of-Fame Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. and Marco Antonio Barrera were present as well as part of the Mexican TV media staff covering the important event as well as gorgeous Tecate girls walked around the stage promoting their popular cerveza, a major Top Rank sponsor.

During the HBO televised ceremony, both fighters looked in excellent shape, ready for their fourth war, which most likely would be the final one between the two future Hall-of-Famers.

After making his weight, the 39-year-old Marquez, who was accompanied by legendary trainer don Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain, said to the audience:

“I am well prepared because this will be a very tough fight. I will put pressure on him (Pacquiao) as soon as we stepped in the ring. This combat might not be the greatest fight in my career, but is the most important fight to define who the best fighter is.”

In addition, the 4-division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez added: “In this fight, all factors are important: power, intelligence, good boxing, and speed.”

Seconds afterwards, the 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao (soon to celebrate his 34th birthday), said to his enthusiastic adoring followers in attendance at the weigh-in:

“I am happy to give honor to my country in boxing. I’ve enter politics to be a congressman because I want help the people. I I know about the families in the Philippines who have been affected by the storm. This fight is dedicated to them. I have focused for this fight. We had a good training and I am ready.”

Finally, asked by veteran HBO anchor Larry Merchant: “Manny, do you still have fire in your belly to do this?” the hugely popular Pacman replied: “Yes, that is true.”

Bob Arum believes the world will see a different Juan Manuel Marquez when the Mexican superstar fights Filipino rival Manny Pacquiao for the fourth time on December 8 in Las Vegas.

Speaking with The Boxing Channel, Arum said he expects Marquez to have a different plan of attack against Pacquiao.

“I think what will happen in this fight is that Marquez won’t fight the usual Marquez fight. He won’t rely on his counter-punching ability,” Arum said.

“He’s gonna take the fight to Manny, but if you take the fight to Manny, that’s an advantage to Manny,” he added.

But Arum noted that Marquez has been looking more bulked up and that the Mexican boxer believes he will be at his strongest come fight time.

“Marquez believes that with his newfound strength, if he takes the fight to Manny, he will prevail. So that’s the interesting point,” Arum said.

“Manny is gonna get everything he wants – a fighter that comes right at him. We’ll see what happens,” he said.

While Arum is not questioning how Marquez was able to bulk up, he does wonder how the Mexican’s new physique will affect his speed.

“Anybody can beef up with the right exercise. The question is, can you maintain your speed if you beef up like that? If the answer is that he can’t, then he’s in trouble. But if the answer is yes, that he can, then maybe Pacquiao is in trouble,” Arum said.

Both Pacquiao and Marquez have promised to be more aggressive in the fourth fight as they aim to finally put a decisive end to their saga.

Their most recent bout, last November 2011, was the most controversial, with Pacquiao ekeing out a majority decision even as many believed Marquez had done enough to win.

“I thought that fight could have gone either way,” Arum said. “Marquez fought a real good fight, but inexplicably, in the last two rounds he took his foot off the pedal and let Pacquiao squeeze out a decision.”

With one week to go before he takes on Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, “Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao looked sharp in sparring and is ready to go.

Strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza told the Manila Standard that Pacquiao “looks good, looks sharp and looks ready to go, definitely.”

Manny Pacquiao sparred four rounds with tough Frankie Gomez and another four rounds with one of the Roman twins in a training session that was watched by Pacquiao’s charming wife Jinkee.

Pacquiao also did a couple of rounds on the punch-mitts with Filipino trainer Restituto “Buboy” Fernandez who does a good job in making Pacquiao throw flurries of punches and move constantly.

Despite the sparring, Ariza described the Saturday training at the Wild Card Gym of celebrated trainer Freddie Roach as “a light workout, not too bad” since Ariza has been advocating that Pacquiao “slowdown a little bit.”

Ariza told us he believes Pacquiao “knows what he wants to in his head. I’m sure he does. Go in there, target this guy (Juan Manuel Marquez), keep pushing, pushing, pressure, pressure. Don’t let this guy think.”

The strength and conditioning coach recalled that legendary Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez Sr told him recently that Pacquiao should return to being “a street fighter and let his hands go.”

Ariza remembers Chavez Sr telling him “the problem with Manny is he thinks too much and when he does some things he gives Marquez time. But when Manny loosens up and let it go, Marquez looks lost. He didn’t know what to do at times. That’s Manny Pacquiao.”

Chavez said, “You don’t know what he’s doing when he throws so many punches. You don’t have time to figure and set up a counter punch because it’s boom-boom-boom and its coming from everywhere.”

The Mexican warrior noted when you see Pacquiao trying to do one thing, and step over here, step over there and this and that. That’s not his style. His style is let your hands go and go after him.”

Ariza quoted Chavez as telling him, “When Manny Pacquiao lets his hands go I don’t believe there is anybody who can deal with that.”

Pacquiao was a smash hit in Times Square as the Top Rank crew broadcast “live” on a seven stories tall screen in Times Square in New York City, an unprecedented training session of Pacquiao last Friday from the Wild Card Gym.

The world loved Manny Pacquiao when he stopped Oscar DeLa Hoya in the ninth round in 2008, in the process forcing the American Olympic gold medalist to retirement. They applauded, too, when the Filipino boxing hero took only two rounds in putting Ricky Hatton to dreamland and Miguel Cotto not being able to finish their 12-round showdown both in 2009.

And if the only man to win eight world championships in as many weight divisions and his trainer Freddie Roach are to be believed, Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez would meet the same fate the three suffered in that 12-month stretch bridging Pacquiao’s campaign in 2008 and 2009 when the two fight for the fourth time on December 8 at the MGM Grand.

“Manny’s back where he was before, explosive and skillfull and plenty of killer instinct,” Roach said after his pupil of 12 years completed his five-week training camp last Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood here.
“He’s as powerful as he was five years ago and quicker, I think JuanMa will have his hands full this time,” he added as he assured boxing fans that the former pound-for-pound king will finally end all doubts that accompanied their three previous encounters.

“Okay na okay na ako. I’m 100 percent ready at puede nang lumaban kahit bukas,” Pacquiao, for his part, assured as he echoed his Hall of Fame trainer’s observation.
“Yung target naming na bumalik ako sa panahong 24, 25 years old ako nandun na,” the 33-year-old Sarangani Province Congressman said. “Sa a-otso ng Disyembre malalaman na talaga kung yung dalawang panalo sa kanya ay hindi kontrobersyal gaya ng paniwala ng iba.”

In the course of his five-week stint in LA, Manny Pacquiao sparred with at least five sparring partners, knocking down one of them four times it only to prove that the power and quickness of his hands are still there and the speed in his legs had not abandoned him.
“Manny’s all focused everyday in the camp, that I assure everyone,” Roach said. “There was not a single distraction. Even his Bible study which to some served as distraction was controlled.”

“I have never seen him so serious in his preparations as he has been here. He’s all ears, in fact, to what I have been telling him to do. He is again listening to me,” Roach said with a smile. “Manny’s been very happy with what we’ve been doing and when he’s happy, he can do everything.”

Told that Juan Manuel Marquez, too, has been doing very well in his training and has, in fact, been adding muscle to achieve his similar goal of winning via knockout, Roach said: “Good for us. Big man always lose to small fast man.”
“Good,” Pacquiao for his part, butted in. “That means he will not be running as he had done in our first three fights.”
Proof that Pacquiao is, indeed, ready and in fine fighting shape, he went through several round doing the mitts with assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez after six rounds of sparring against Jessie Roman and promising welterweight Frankie Gomez at three rounds each.

A four-round skirmish with the duo Monday before the team leaves for Las Vegas complete the more or less 100 rounds of skirmishes, Roach said.
“There will no more sparring when we get to Vegas where what we will be doing is try to maintain what we have gained here. Roadwork will continue though as far as maintaining his physical condition is concerned,” he added.

Credentials

LOS ANGELES (via PCSO) – The Philippines’ pride Manny Pacquiao and his team motor to Las Vegas Monday (Tuesday in Manila) for the final leg of his preparations for his coming fourth fight against long-time rival Juan Manuel Marquez.

Pacquiao and Marquez will meet each other anew on December 8 (December 9 Manila time) at the MGM Grand Arena in that gambling capital of the world to determine once and-for-all who between them is the better fighter following three previous confrontations that left more questions than answers.

The duo will meet again on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) for the traditional “Grand Arrival” ceremony at MGM Grand’s main lobby, announced Magda Media international, the public relations group that represents Top Rank, Inc., HBO Pay Preview and MGM Resorts International.

Magna Media, meanwhile, will start releasing credentials of media men authorized to cover the 12-round fight on the same day and at the same place. The main event press conference has been scheduled at 12:30 p.m.on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) at the Hollywood Theater after a media luncheon at noon, the Magda Media advisory said. The actual fight credentials, according to Magna Media can be claimed throughout the day on Saturday, December 8 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the “Old VIP Box Office” located at the Southeast corner of the MGM Grand Arena.
The undercard press conference is scheduled on Thursday, December 6 at the Media center (Studio Rooms A and B).

Manny Pacquiao is nearing peak conditioning, he and his team will devote the next several weeks correcting the mistakes he committed in his past fights against Juan Manuel Marquez.

Manny Pacquiao will fight Juan Manuel Marquez for the fourth time (Pacquiao vs Marquez 4) on December 8, and he can’t afford to make the same mistakes that made during their first 3 bouts.

“Two weeks here at LA will be devoted to continuing what Manny started in General Santos [where Pacquiao begun his preparations]. The next two weeks will be focused on correcting the mistakes in Manny’s failure to do what we intended to do the last three times,” boxing coach Freddie Roach told Philboxing’s Eddie Alinea.

Although Pacquiao won 2 of his 3 bouts against Marquez, the fighting congressman looked vulnerable in front of the Mexican’s counterpunching style.

Roach said that the only way for his prized fighter to claim a decisive win is to hammer out a knockout win against Marquez.

“He promised me a knockout for the first time ever and I am going to remind him of that every day,” the boxing hall-of-famer said earlier.

For his part, Pacquiao said they will also devote the following weeks into regaining his old punching power and the quickness of his feet.

He said he wants to achieve the same conditioning that he had when he fought the likes of Oscar de la Hoya and Miguel Cotto.

“Yun ang target naming mai-balik para sa laban na ito,” Pacquiao said. “Ang lakas at ang bilis ko noon, no? Kaya nating ibalik ang araw na yun at ito ang gagawin namin this coming weeks until we move to Las Vegas for the final week of preparations.”

“Fighter of the Decade” Manny Pacquiao’s hand-speed and footwork are better than ever and Filipino assistant trainer “Buboy” Fernandez has contributed substantially to the change according to strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza.

In an overseas telephone conversation with the Manila Standard, Ariza said that Pacquiao sparred four rounds with longtime sparring partner Raymund Beltran and another four rounds with a tough Russian.

Ariza said “it’s some of the best sparring I’ve seen from Manny and its not just the sparring but the movements that he has and I think his hands and his footwork is almost at a different level that I’ve seen in a long time and the combination of having ‘Buboy’ Fernandez now is very good at making Manny throw lots of punches, volume and speed.”

On sparring Pacquiao does “at least a couple of rounds to focus on speed and volume punching and it has worked wonders.”

Ariza said he suggested to Pacquiao that they do the same thing Tuesday that they did last Saturday with the sparring and Fernandez handling the speed and volume punching and Manny said “yeah, I feel better when I do it like that.”

He said “it gets Manny tired because it’s a different pace with speed and volume punching and it was some of the best footwork and pressure that I’ve seen from Manny in a long time. Not just pressure coming forward but pressure and throwing punches at the same time.”

Ariza said that on Wednesday (LA Time) Pacquiao would “start some isometric exercises and on Friday we go to the track and I believe Manny likes the different changes and I think he really likes the change in pace having Buboy come in and work on speed and volume punches.”

The strength and conditioning coach who teamed up with celebrated trainer Freddie Roach some two weeks before Pacquiao demolished WBC featherweight champion David Diaz in nine rounds said he had the greatest respect for Roach who is concentrating on the game-plan for the fourth encounter with Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on December 8 and working on motivating Pacquiao and inspiring him to erase the controversy that surrounded his last split decision win over Marquez by knocking him out.
