The strength and conditioning trainer of Manny Pacquiao, Alex Ariza expects Manny Pacquiao to take on his greatest rival, Juan Manuel Marquez, in a fourth fight instead of engaging Timothy Bradley in a rematch this November 10. Ariza during an interview with the boxingscene believes Pacquiao will fight Marquez for a fourth time this November, instead of exercising the rematch clause that he has against Bradley. Bob Arum also says that Pacquiao vs Marquez 4 is possible.
Last year, Pacquiao escaped with a controversial majority decision victory over Marquez in a fight that many felt he lost. Just last week, it was Pacquiao who fell victim to a controversial decision when American boxer Timothy Bradley was named winner via split decision in their welterweight clash.
Pacquiao has said he wants to fight Bradley again, but that rematch has been put on hold as their controversial bout is now being reviewed by various parties, including the Nevada State Athletic Commission, the Nevada State Attorney General’s office, and the World Boxing Organization.
Ariza said he believes Pacquiao will fight Bradley in a rematch only after the fourth bout against Marquez. Ariza is also disappointed with the report that there were many unsold tickets for the Pacquiao-Bradley fight last Saturday, saying this may affect the negotiations for a potential Pacquiao-Mayweather mega-bout.
“How can you go to Mayweather and ask him for a 50-50 revenue split?” Ariza asked.
During Pacquiao’s training camp for the Bradley fight, Ariza was involved in a spat with head trainer Freddie Roach, after Ariza left Pacquiao’s camp in Baguio early to work with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in Los Angeles. The dispute was eventually resolved and Ariza was included in the Roach’s list of four cornermen for Pacquiao’s title defense against Bradley.
If the Pacquiao vs Marquez is happen it will likely to be held at Mexico. Pacquiao also wants the fourth fight happen in Mexico because of a large followers there.
